Read a page's checks and fix them

Ian DuncanFounder, Axiom Flux and AxiomAIReviewed 5 min read

In brief

Each page has its own screen showing its overall score, a score for each of six areas and every individual check, passed or failed. Use it to see exactly what to fix, turn failed checks into tasks and copy ready-made schema for the page.

Key points

  • Click any row on the Pages screen to open that page's checks.
  • Signal Breakdown lists every check in six areas, with a tick or a cross.
  • Failed checks can be sent to your Work board as a task.
  • Keyword opportunities shows the searches the page already appears for.
  • The Schema generator builds copy-paste JSON-LD at no credit cost.

The steps at a glance

  1. 1

    Open the page

Go to Pages and click the row for the page you want.

  2. 2

    Check the scores

Look at the six category cards and find the lowest one.

  3. 3

    Read the failed checks

Scroll to Signal Breakdown. Checks with a cross are the ones to fix.

  4. 4

Make a task or fix it

Click the task icon next to a failed check, add an assignee if you like and confirm. Or fix it on your site straight away.

  5. 5

    Score it again

Click Analyse at the top of the page once the change is live.

Every page on your site has its own checks screen. It shows the page's scores, every individual check behind them, and practical help to fix what's missing. To open it, go to Pages and click any row.

How to work through a page

  1. Look at the score at the top and the six category cards below it. Start with the lowest card.
  2. Scroll to Signal Breakdown. Each area lists its checks with a tick for a pass and a cross for a fail.
  3. Hover over a failed check and click the task icon (Add as task). Type an assignee if you want, then click the tick. The task appears on your Work board with the page attached.
  4. Make the change on your website.
  5. Click Analyse at the top of the screen to score the page again.

If the page has never been analysed, you'll see "Analysis pending" and an Analyse Now button instead of scores.

What the screen shows

The header

The page path and title sit at the top, with a link to open the live page. Next to the overall score you'll see when it was last analysed, the page status and an Excluded badge if you've excluded it in Settings, Pages.

Category scores and the radar

The six cards are On-Page SEO, Technical SEO, Content Quality, Internal Linking, E-E-A-T and GEO / AI Signals. Each is out of 100. Scores of 80 and above are good, 50 to 79 show in amber and under 50 show in red. The Score Radar shows the same six scores as a shape, so lopsided pages stand out.

Signal Breakdown

Each area opens to show its checks and a count such as "9/15 passing". Some examples follow.

  • On-Page SEO checks the title, meta description, H1, subheadings, URL, canonical tag and that the page isn't set to noindex.
  • Technical SEO checks HTTPS, sharing tags, the viewport tag, structured data and broken internal links.
  • Content Quality checks word count, images and alt text, lists, a visible date and a summary section.
  • Internal Linking checks links out to your other pages and links in from them, and whether the page is an orphan.
  • E-E-A-T looks for an author, contact details, a privacy policy link, reviews, trust badges and awards.
  • GEO / AI Signals looks for a direct answer, an FAQ section, sourced statistics, question headings and whether AI answers already cite the page.

Page Facts

A quick list of the raw numbers, including title and description length, word count, internal and inbound links, images (and how many lack alt text) and the schema types found.

Keyword opportunities

This card lists the searches the page already appears for. It uses your Search Console data from the last 90 days and your rank tracking results, so it needs Search Console connected to show the first table.

Each Search Console term has an Opportunity label.

  • One push from page one means it sits in positions 11 to 20.
  • Ranking, few clicks means it is in the top 10 with plenty of impressions but very few clicks. A better title or description often helps.
  • Ranking means it is in the top 10.
  • Visible means it appears further down.

Click Set target to make a term one of the page's target keywords. Then click Analyse so the checks are judged against it.

The rank tracking table shows verified positions for this page by city. Use the Location menu to tie the page to one of your tracked cities, so that city's rankings show first. See rank tracking for how those positions are collected.

AI citations

If AI answers have linked to this page, this card lists the questions asked, the engine, how many times it was cited and when. It also lists Google AI Overviews that cite the page, with the search, city and how many days it was seen. The cited pages article covers this across your whole site.

Schema generator

Click Generate schema to build JSON-LD for the page from its own content, your business record and its map listing. It is included in your plan and uses no credits.

You'll see which schema types are already on the page, a note about any FAQ content found, and one block per suggested type. Click Copy on a block, then paste it into the page's <head>. Blocks marked "already on page" are there for comparison. The schema article shows which pages are missing schema across your site.

Common problems

The checks don't reflect my latest changes

Scores come from the last analysis. Click Analyse after your changes are live. Every page analysed before is also re-checked automatically each Wednesday.

Analysis failed

If we can't fetch the page, or it returns no readable content, it isn't scored. Pages built entirely in JavaScript, or protected by a bot check, can cause this.

Keyword opportunities is missing

The card only shows when there's Search Console or rank tracking data for this page. New pages, or sites without Search Console connected, may not have any yet.

Frequently asked questions

How do I fix a failed check?

Each failed check names what is missing, such as a meta description or an FAQ section. Make the change on your website, then click Analyse on the page to score it again. You can also click the task icon next to the check to add it to your Work board.

Why is this page judged against the wrong keyword?

Without target keywords, a page is judged against its top Search Console queries. Click Set target next to the right search term in Keyword opportunities, then click Analyse so the checks use it.

Does the schema generator use credits?

No. It builds the JSON-LD from the page's own content, your business details and your map listing. It is included in your plan.

Why does the page say Analysis pending?

The page hasn't been analysed yet. Click Analyse Now to score it. After that it is re-checked for free every Wednesday.
